We went to Holkham Hall on Open Farm Sunday and ended up staying here nearly 4 hours!
It is located in North Norfolk, not far from Wells-Next-The-Sea and Holkam Beach (warning Holkham Beach has some nudist areas!). The website says "The actress Gwyneth Paltrow walked across Holkham sand at low tide during the closing scenes of the film ‘Shakespeare in Love’."
There is a lot to do here and we didn't even do it all! We went into the house- the tickets can be expensive but we had our English Heritage membership which gave us 20% off. If you don't have EH membership, book online and save 10%.
This house was built in the 18th century and the estate has 25,000 acres. The house is very beautiful as you can see in my pictures.
I really liked the Food to Fork exhibit showing where the farm has gone and where it is going. It does have thing sto try on and interactive displays. The ride is great to get an idea what is being grown here in East Anglia.
There are many trails to walk and cycle around the estate. If you do not go into the house etc, you can pay £3 for parking and enjoy the grounds. Bikes can be hired here.
They have a great play area for 0-5 and 5-12 years olds. I think Bug liked this the best!
We packed our lunch but they do have a cafe to eat lunch.
