I took Mr B to visit my family in Maine. I have spent many summers in Maine with my family and was lovely to be able to take him there to meet them and see what it had to offer.
Sometimes I think that if I were to move back to the US, I would like to live in a small town in New England but that may be from watching the Gilmore Girls.
The Seadogs
My Aunt was able to get us some ticket to go to the Portland Seadogs game. They belong to the minor league. It is a great thing to do if you are here! They won!
Old Orchard Beach
My cousins used to live in Old Orchard Beach and we would go down to the beach and swim all day. We would also go to the pier and play games and go into the shops.
This is a great place to catch some sun.
Candlepin Bowling
One thing I had to take Jon to do was candlepin bowling. We went to Colonial Bowling in Westbrook where my dad grew up.
It is like bowling except the pins a smaller and the ball is like the ones you throw in skeet games.
If you get the chance to do it, try it!
Eating Lobster
So it turns out that my Grandma really knows how to eat lobster and that is what impressed my Grandfather! You cannot get fresher lobster than in Maine and so I tried to eat as much as I could while I was there. Basically you just tear it all to pieces and eat as you go!
Maine Narrow Guage Railroad Co and Museum
We took a tour on the train at the Railroad Museum which took you out to the coast. It was great because you could also get information about how important it was to Portland.
Inside the museum was great for everyone because you can climb in and out of trains.
