Cannes

Since we were in the area, we decided that we had to go to Cannes since it is well known for its annual film festival. It is a great day out from Nice.

Getting there from Nice

The bus is a long one but only cost us €3 for the two of us each way. It took us 1.5 hours there and back. The bus stops are along the Promenade along the sea front in Cannes. The earlier you get on the bus, the better because you are more likely to get a seat.

Musee de la Castre

Picture
This museum is on the top of the hill in Cannes in the Old Town area. It has a 11th century water tower and the museum itself houses items from the 19th century Dutch explorer, Baron Lucklama. Otherwise its a great view of the area from on top of the hill. This museum closes for lunch so be prepared.

Boulevard de la Croisette

Picture
This is a a famous road that is lined with palm trees and expensive shops. There are beaches along here as well but most are privately owned by the hotels but you can find some free ones.

The Beach

A lot of the beaches are privately owned but there are some good areas that are free. So it is worth making Cannes a day out and bringing your swimsuit because the beaches are sandy here. Shop and wander in the morning and swim off these sandy beaches in the afternoon.
