Copenhagen popped into my mind when my mom asked "where should we go?" It was a great trip and would recommend it to anyone looking for a long weekend away.
Accommodation
We stayed at this place which was a bit out of the way but an easy bus trip into central Copenhagen. It also had a few shops and restaurants about 10 minutes walk away. The host, Kirsten, was great!
Currency
I was surprised to find out that Denmark does not use the Euro €, but instead uses the Danish krone. I got this from my local post office.
I have heard people say that Copenhagen is expensive but I felt the prices were comparable to London.
Getting around
The metro is very easy to use. We got the Copenhagen Card as it included many of the places we were were visiting and included transport.
Completed in 1642, this tower is 34.8 meters tall and was built as an observatory. It also housed the university library. It is a spiral staircase that used to accommodate horses.
This tour lasts an hour long and will take you to see the Little Mermaid from the back. it wasn't necessary for us to tow Bug all the way there for a quick picture. It was a great way to see Copenhagen and the guide was very funny.
This is the most picturesque in Copenhagen. We were lucky enough to see the bridge be raised for a boat going into the canal. This is a nice place for drink or lunch.
Sadly, we did not get to visit the Tivoli because it closed at the end of September to get ready for Halloween. So I thought I would put this in as others may not realise it is not open all of the time.
This was amazing because the spiral at the end is outside. Even though there are 400 steps to go up, I think it is one of the easiest towers I have every climbed in terms of incline. Bug climbed to the top as well! So I highly recommend it.
Blue Planet is very close to the airport so was perfect to go to on the morning we left. It is Northern Europe's largest aquarium and we really enjoyed ourselves here. Bug loved petting the rays!
The aquarium is quite a walk from the Metro station which was a bit of a struggle due to our luggage but they have lockers to put your stuff in.
