The Sandringham Estate is open to take a stroll. Sandringham Estate is where the Royal Family spends their Christmas.
Sandringham was purchased by the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII in 1862. It is a 18th century house.
The stables are now museums with items of favourite past times of the royals to include hunting.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate) have recently moved to Amner Hall which is part of this estate. Just in a tiny village down the road.
In July, it hosts the Sandringham Flower Show which is a great opportunity to get a glimpse of The Prince of Wales (Charles) and the Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla).
In September, you can go here on selected weekends and pick apples from the orchards.
Parking is free here and they have a gift shop (the prices are not unreasonable) and a cafe.
The Royal attend Christmas service at Church of St Mary Magdalene so you can come here early on Christmas and get a glimpse of them walking to church. As the Queen sits is the Head of the Church of England she sits up front with the priest and other clergy members.
There has been a church here dating back to 1321 but the one standing here dates back to the 16th century.
It has the beautiful angle beams that are common in East Anglia.
There is a silver processional cross that was gifted to the Queen by Rodman Wanamaker, an American.
In the courtyard of the church, you will pass the graves of Alexander John (King Edward and Queen Alexandra) and John (King George V and Queen Mary).
The church is open daily until Sunday 2nd November, except for the period Saturday 26th July to Tuesday 29th July inclusive. Opening times are from 11.00am to 5.00pm (4.00pm in October), Sundays 1.00pm to 5.00pm (4.00pm in October), unless there are additional services taking place. During the winter it is open only for services.
